Hematologist/Oncologist
Assignment Details
• Location: Des Moines & West Des Moines, Iowa
• Practice Setting: Outpatient and Inpatient
• Coverage: Ongoing locum coverage with additional dates anticipated in 2027
• Coverage required at both hospital locations
Compensation: Hourly – $580/hr, Night Call – $750 per shift, 24 Hour On Call – $4450 per 24 hours, Call Back – $830/hr.
Schedule
• Clinic: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Coverage needed 4 days per week (Monday–Thursday or Monday–Friday)
• Night call Monday–Friday following clinic
• 24-hour weekend call before or after scheduled work week
• Approximately 6 patient contact hours per day

• September 22–30, 2026
• October 21–29, 2026
• November 16–20, 2026
Clinical Details
• 95% outpatient / 5% inpatient
• Coverage at both Des Moines and West Des Moines locations
• Daily Clinic Volume: 10–30 patients
• Average Inpatient Census:
• Primary Hospital: 10–15 patients
• Secondary Hospital: 5–8 patients
• EMR: Epic
• One RN or CMA assigned per physician
• Two exam rooms per provider
• Medical imaging, laboratory, and pharmacy services available
• Informal teaching opportunities
• Responsibilities include:
• Medical hematology and oncology consultations
• New and ongoing treatment planning
• Chemotherapy management
• Hematology patient care
• Pain management coordination
• End-of-life care
• Ancillary service referrals
Requirements
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology & Oncology preferred
• Board Certified in Oncology with Hematology experience will be considered
• Fellowship trained in Hematology & Oncology
• Active Iowa medical license or active IMLC Letter of Qualification
• Experienced providers required
• Must be willing to work at both hospital locations
• Must specify available coverage dates at presentation
• Clean malpractice and background history
• NPDB self-query dated within 30 days required at presentation
