Overview:
A Level II trauma facility is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant to provide coverage for both scheduled clinic duties and call. This role requires strong experience in cardiac surgery, including vein harvesting and operative support.

Weekdays: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM + night call
Weekends: 24-hour call
Call ratio: 1:2

Practice Details
Setting: Hospital (Level II Trauma Center)
EMR: Not specified
Mix of clinic, OR support, and call coverage
Cardiothoracic surgery program with moderate case volume
Case Volume:
~125 CABG cases annually (few emergent)
Responsibilities
First assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures
Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
Provide inpatient and perioperative patient care
Participate in clinic coverage
Take weekday night call and weekend 24-hour call
Collaborate with surgical team and hospital staff
Requirements
Board Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) – Required
Active Iowa License – Required
Minimum 2 years Cardiothoracic Surgery experience – Required
EVH experience – Required
ACLS and BLS – Required
Clean malpractice/background – Required
NPDB Self-Query (within 30 days) – Required
Must be able to cover listed dates – Required
Credentialing:
Must be able to obtain privileges prior to start
